I was There
Twenty five years ago, the Berlin Wall was demolished. Since then 27 new political walls have come up across the globe. The Berlin Wall which was the object in limelight on the night of 9 November 1989, has today become just a backdrop for tourists. Since we have become Homo Selficus, it is worth reflecting how seriously we observe a monument. This project plays with the theme of Selfies and Tourism on to levels. On one hand, we see the variety of Tourists in the photo installation, the temporary instruments of technology, and our social mannerisms, all of which function as a witness of contemporary times. On the other hand, the sound track of the video, reminds us of the fates of human lives who live in the shadows of political walls and question our enthusiasm for erecting new walls.
