STRANGERS
Portraits of my Chinese housemates
-Postcard format with handwritten inscription on the reverse side
A chaotic flat, noisy computer games, the aroma of Asian spices, where are we? In Germany, where we pay in Euros. In the first days I was always multiplying every price with sixty five. Then we began to dream and build hopes. -The transition period of assimilating in another culture.
I like the sky in Germany, it is more blue than in my country. an image swims in my eyes- a bench and a couple leaning close to each other. In Germany, even old people are not shy to show their affection in public. that is not possible in China. The Germans are cautious but romantic. I always thought that the Germans were very serious. But that is not true. Some Germans are sloppy and lazy. But the laws function better here than in China.
The excitement that I felt when I came to Germany is now gone. But the beer is impressive. Germans with a can of beer is like Chinese with a can of cola. I have tried the sausages and the pork knuckles. They are good. The football culture is also cool. The fans are crazy, the country is tolerant. Everything is in order.
A fresh wind a new culture, not every one is lucky to experience this. The landscape here is picturesque. But sometimes I am homesick. As I do not speak German so well, I am scared to talk to others here. And she hurt my heart- my heart that does not like studies.
PS: I have cool eyes, but a weak heart.
A Chinese poem- untranslatable.
Its already five months since I am in Germany. Sometimes I am homesick, recall the my schooldays and the happy faces, I miss my friends. We spent our childhood together, today we are all in different cities. Now I want to do everything correct, step by step. But I want to enjoy my youth as well. I like Germany , but often feel disappointed. Maybe I will reside forever here, but the future is still flexible. That is why I try to make the most of the present moment.
